We’re on the lookout for two Member Nominated Trustee Directors (MNTDs) to join the Trustee Board of the AXA UK Group Pension Scheme (the Scheme)
You can help decide how the Scheme is run for members
The current term for our two Member Nominated Trustee Directors (MNTDs), Ed Davis and Ken Smith, ends on 30 June 2025. We're pleased to say that both Ken and Ed have indicated that they're intending to stand again for reselection.
As an MNTD of the Scheme, it would be your role, alongside the other Trustee Directors, to ensure the smooth running of the Scheme.
Being a Trustee is an important job; you’ll help look after assets totalling c£3.6 billion in respect of over 25,000 members. The Trustees are constantly facing new and complex challenges as investment markets develop and pensions legislation changes. Whilst you do not need to be a pensions expert, as an MNTD you'll need to build a thorough understanding of how the Scheme operates so you have the knowledge and confidence to make decisions alongside the other Trustee Directors.
The best Trustee Boards are made up of people with a wide range of skills, experiences and perspectives. That’s why we’re looking forward to hearing from members from all backgrounds. You don’t need to know everything about pensions to become an MNTD, and there is no minimum number of years you need to have worked at AXA.
Things you need to know
1. ELIGIBILITY
All pensioner members and those deferred members who are still employed by AXA are eligible to stand. If you wish to apply you should complete the Application Form providing details of why you think you’re suitable to be an MNTD.
2. FLEXIBILITY
To be an effective MNTD, you need to be able to control your work and time on a flexible basis. If you’re still in employment with AXA, you’ll be given time off from your day-to-day role to undertake your duties as an MNTD.
3. PAYMENT
Pensioner MNTDs will receive a payment for each Trustee meeting and sub-committee meeting they're asked to attend. You'll also be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred, such as travel expenses.
4. TERM OF OFFICE
An MNTD is usually appointed for a three-year term. When this term of office expires, an MNTD can choose to stand for reselection (subject to an overall maximum of three terms).
